When considering colleges or universities, it's crucial to ensure they are Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) to qualify for a study permit. If you hold CXCs, an associate/bachelor's degree, transcripts must be uploaded to the college/university portal. For certain colleges or universities, demonstrating proficiency in English (or French) might be necessary to apply for your student visa. Hence, you'll need to undertake a Canadian-approved English test, such as IELTS, CELPIP, or PTE. Upon review of your application and meeting requirements, you'll receive an acceptance offer.
Most institutions typically require payment of the first semester or year's school fees before applying for a study permit. As per the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) guidelines, single applicants must demonstrate they possess CAD 20,635, in addition to first-year tuition and travel expenses. Ensuring you can cover your studies financially is a crucial first step.
